God’s Word + mandatory fun!
JUMPSTART is a 5 day dynamic and directional teaching camp aimed at Christian home-educated teens between 15-17 years. This camp is uniquely designed to provide solid foundational Bible teaching, contemporary apologetics, and to address some key life issues that Christian youth may be facing today.
JumpStart also offers a variety of planned recreational activities, meaningful worship, and the opportunity to develop wholesome and lasting friendships with peers who love Jesus.
Spiritual foundations will be reinforced, friendships will be strengthened, and most importantly, one’s relationship with Jesus Christ ‘as our LIFE’ will be taught, nurtured and encouraged.
As this year marks 500 years since Martin Luther nailed his 95 thesis 'on the door', the theme of Jumpstart this year is "Not Ashamed!!!" (Romans 1:16&17). The Bible Teaching sessions will be going through Romans 1-8. Apologetics will include topics like “10 Basic Facts every Christian should know about the NT”, but I don’t want to give away too much of the inside scoop yet… We hope your teens will be inspired to not only and merely to live FOR Jesus, but live FROM Jesus as the source of their LIFE!

Originally from Canada, Dale has been with Capernwray for over 20 years. Before this Dale lived, studied, and played in Vancouver for 7 years where he was a certified Journeyman Carpenter by day, and a ‘heavy metal’ musician by night! He and his wife Patti then spent several years on staff at His Hill in Texas before coming to NZ. They pioneered the Capernwray ministry on the South Island and ran 'The Crossing' Bible School programme and conferences for 11 years. Dale is now a Field Representative for Capernwray New Zealand overseeing conferences and events on the South Island and regularly teaching in the Bible School at Monavale. Dale is also the Founder and Director of JumpStart since 2010, a camp ministry aimed at Home-educated teens.
Dale enjoys other cultures, spicy food, strong coffee, and spending time in the outdoors with his kids!
Dale’s desire is to see people come to know the fullness of the indwelling and risen Lord Jesus Christ in their lives, and to see that the Word of God is firmly established in their hearts and minds, for the REST of their lives!
Originally from the UK, Kris became a Christian whilst playing keyboards in a Los Angeles funk/rock band in 1994. After returning to the UK, he met his wife Becky and they followed God’s call to NZ in January 1997. Kris assisted with the first Calvary Chapel church plant in Auckland as youth pastor/worship leader, then in 2003 he and Becky moved to Christchurch to plant Calvary Chapel Christchurch, now known as Redemption Church.
In May 2009 Kris transitioned from his leadership role into itinerant ministry, handing over his role as pastor of Calvary Chapel Christchurch and subsequently establishing The Psalm 12:1 Project, a ministry aimed at encouraging the restoration of Biblical Manhood. Kris still serves as a pastor/elder at Redemption Church, and in addition to his responsibilities and privileges as a husband and father, divides his time with running the Psalm 12:1 Project ministry, Teaching at Bibles Schools and Churches, Music Ministry & Composition (www.krisbaines.com), and also works as a Paramedic with St John.
Kris loves to teach God’s Word and has a passion for making it applicable and relevant to the challenges of everyday life, particularly in regard to the role of Christian men in today’s world. Kris and Becky live in Rolleston, Christchurch and home educate their 8 children. Kris and Becky believe their highest calling is their duty and responsibility to be godly parents, passing on the truth of God’s Word and the power of the Gospel to the next generations of their family.
Werner Schreiber lives in Timaru, New Zealand with his wife Heidi and two children - Joshua (22) and Danielle (20). He leads the weekly Bible study and Sunday fellowship in Orari, teaches at the Capernwray Bible School in Hamilton and is responsible for the Heading for Him website.
Originally from South Africa, the family moved to New Zealand in 2007. Both educated at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Werner and Heidi have been married for 28 years and have travelled widely in Africa, Europe and the United States. Both admit that settling into a new country has been a tremendous challenge but at the same time a catalyst for spiritual growth. Heading for Him is the result of a growing awareness in both Heidi and Werner that mainline churches globally are progressively moving away from their actual purpose which is to present all believers mature in Christ. Instead, the emphasis is on turning the church into a community service club with a peppering of vague Christian vocabulary, devoid of the presence of God, leaving congregants very busy but spiritually bankrupt. The 'Telos' principle has played a big part in both Werner and Heidi's lives as a guiding rule which aligns all Christian activity to having God Himself and nothing else as the goal.
Scott Brown is a Jewish believer in Jesus who has been sharing the Good News of the Messiah with Jewish people since coming to faith in 1981. Raised in a traditional Jewish home in the suburbs of Washington D.C., Scott began his spiritual journey by moving into the woods and living a solitary life. It was there that a co-worker gave Scott a pocket New Testament. That little Bible launched a crisis of faith which eventuated in Scott’s salvation seven years later. Scott entered full time missionary service with Chosen People Ministries in 1988 and planted Son of David Congregation (SODC) in Maryland, which later birthed another Messianic congregation – Sar Shalom Fellowship – in Northern Virginia. Both congregations continue to flourish to this day, and have been used of God to make many disciples among Jewish people. After 19 fruitful years of pastoral leadership at SODC, Scott, along with his wife Marjorie and four of their seven children, moved to the south island of New Zealand where Scott is serving as National Director of Celebrate Messiah New Zealand. Scott is reaching out to thousands of Israeli and other international tourists whose physical journeys are often attended with spiritual quests. Through seminars, conferences and church meetings, Scott is also equipping Christians throughout New Zealand with a broader understanding of Israel’s role in God’s plan, and the Jewish roots of Christianity.
Jason lives with his wife Claret and their five children in Rolleston. Jason left a corporate career in 2009 to give his time more fully to serving the body of Christ as a pastor-elder at Redemption Church. Jason is passionate about seeing the local church built up through embracing the sufficiency of scripture, biblically-qualified leadership, expository bible teaching, along with biblically-functioning homes that thrive as hubs for both discipleship & evangelism.Read Less
