God’s Word + mandatory fun!
JUMPSTART is a 6 day dynamic and directional teaching camp aimed at Christian home-educated teens between 15-17 years. This camp is uniquely designed to provide solid foundational Bible teaching, contemporary apologetics, and to address some key life issues that Christian youth may be facing today.
JumpStart also offers a variety of planned recreational activities, meaningful worship, and the opportunity to develop wholesome and lasting friendships with peers who love Jesus.
Spiritual foundations will be reinforced, friendships will be strengthened, and most importantly, one’s relationship with Jesus Christ ‘as our LIFE’ will be taught, nurtured and encouraged.
Our theme this year at Jumpstart is “In The Beginning…”, and we’ll be taking our 3 categories of studies (Bible teaching, Apologetics, and ‘Life Issues’) from the book of Genesis, chapters 1-11. Why? Because Genesis establishes who God is, and sets forth His design and instruction for ALL humanity. It’s just that important!
“Genesis should be foundational to every human society. If those truths are ignored, distorted or rejected, consequences will occur—they will be litigated and, if successful, imposed upon society. Genesis establishes the basic parameters of living on God’s Earth according to His precepts in His Word. Ultimately, to reject Genesis is to reject life itself. That is why litigating the hot-button issues of our day is so crucial. Defending Genesis and the Creator God is foundational.” (Jeffery Ventrella)
Jumpstart is not only about equipping the next generation in the Word and ways of God, but even more importantly to help them discover who Jesus Christ really is, and all He wants to be and do in their life!
“See to it that NO ONE takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to CHRIST” (Colossians 2:8)

Originally from the UK, Dave and his wife Marsha and their three children (Taylor, Michael and Charissa) are based at the Torchbearers centre in New Zealand where Dave holds the position of Communications Manager and directs the 10 week BML (Business, Ministry, Leadership) course.
Dave also heads up the Torchbearers International Communications Development Team which sees him work closely with other centres to develop tools to communicate the wider ministry of Torchbearers around the world as well as working with the international office to oversee all Torchbearers promotional activity.
He has visited 19 Torchbearers Centres and has taught at many. He says, “God gave me a passion for preaching and teaching against my wishes! I was the 'behind the scenes' guy, but when He planted the seed of desire to study, He nurtured it into a passion to teach."
Dave has a deep conviction to teach Biblical truth in a bright and refreshing way. “The Bible is an incredible book, but more importantly, it’s all about Jesus from Genesis to Revelation. What else can we do with our time that is as valuable as learning from Him and His word? Not much!”
Werner Schreiber lives in Cambridge, with wife Heidi and has two children - Joshua (23) and Danielle (21). He has recently taken up the Principal position at Capernwray Bible School and is responsible for the Heading for Him website.
Originally from South Africa, the family moved to New Zealand in 2007. Both educated at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Werner and Heidi have been married for 28 years and have travelled widely in Africa, Europe and the United States. Both admit that settling into a new country has been a tremendous challenge but at the same time a catalyst for spiritual growth. Heading for Him is the result of a growing awareness in both Heidi and Werner that mainline churches globally are progressively moving away from their actual purpose which is to present all believers mature in Christ. Instead, the emphasis is on turning the church into a community service club with a peppering of vague Christian vocabulary, devoid of the presence of God, leaving congregants very busy but spiritually bankrupt. The 'Telos' principle has played a big part in both Werner and Heidi's lives as a guiding rule which aligns all Christian activity to having God Himself and nothing else as the goal.
The price represents incredible value for money and includes all accommodation, meals, teaching sessions and activities.
