God’s Word + mandatory fun!
JUMPSTART is a 6 day dynamic and directional teaching camp aimed at Christian home-educated teens between 15-17 years. This camp is uniquely designed to provide solid foundational Bible teaching, contemporary apologetics, and to address some key life issues that Christian youth may be facing today.
JumpStart also offers a variety of planned recreational activities, meaningful worship, and the opportunity to develop wholesome and lasting friendships with peers who love Jesus.
Spiritual foundations will be reinforced, friendships will be strengthened, and most importantly, one’s relationship with Jesus Christ ‘as our LIFE’ will be taught, nurtured and encouraged.
Our theme this year at Jumpstart is “Sufficiency in Christ - a Study in Colossians”, and we’ll be taking our 3 categories of studies (Bible teaching, Apologetics, and ‘Life Issues’) from the book of Colossians. Why? Because it's one of the most clear letters Paul writes about the sufficiency of Jesus Christ as life!
Jumpstart is not only about equipping the next generation in the Word and ways of God, but even more importantly to help them discover who Jesus Christ really is, and all He wants to be and do in their life!
“See to it that NO ONE takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to CHRIST” (Colossians 2:8)

Scott Brown is a Jewish believer in Jesus who has been sharing the Good News of the Messiah with Jewish people since coming to faith in 1981. Raised in a traditional Jewish home in the suburbs of Washington D.C., Scott began his spiritual journey by moving into the woods and living a solitary life. It was there that a co-worker gave Scott a pocket New Testament. That little Bible launched a crisis of faith which eventuated in Scott’s salvation seven years later. Scott entered full time missionary service with Chosen People Ministries in 1988 and planted Son of David Congregation (SODC) in Maryland, which later birthed another Messianic congregation – Sar Shalom Fellowship – in Northern Virginia. Both congregations continue to flourish to this day, and have been used of God to make many disciples among Jewish people. After 19 fruitful years of pastoral leadership at SODC, Scott, along with his wife Marjorie and four of their seven children, moved to the south island of New Zealand where Scott is serving as National Director of Celebrate Messiah New Zealand. Scott is reaching out to thousands of Israeli and other international tourists whose physical journeys are often attended with spiritual quests. Through seminars, conferences and church meetings, Scott is also equipping Christians throughout New Zealand with a broader understanding of Israel’s role in God’s plan, and the Jewish roots of Christianity.
Werner Schreiber lives in Cambridge, with wife Heidi and has two children - Joshua (23) and Danielle (21). He has recently taken up the Principal position at Capernwray Bible School and is responsible for the Heading for Him website.
Originally from South Africa, the family moved to New Zealand in 2007. Both educated at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Werner and Heidi have been married for 28 years and have travelled widely in Africa, Europe and the United States. Both admit that settling into a new country has been a tremendous challenge but at the same time a catalyst for spiritual growth. Heading for Him is the result of a growing awareness in both Heidi and Werner that mainline churches globally are progressively moving away from their actual purpose which is to present all believers mature in Christ. Instead, the emphasis is on turning the church into a community service club with a peppering of vague Christian vocabulary, devoid of the presence of God, leaving congregants very busy but spiritually bankrupt. The 'Telos' principle has played a big part in both Werner and Heidi's lives as a guiding rule which aligns all Christian activity to having God Himself and nothing else as the goal.
